Well, I guess thats true, so choices must be made.

Once again it is time to be headig out.  We have a vague general idea of where we are going to go but nothing set in stone, or even drawn out on a map, real or imaginary.  The basic truck is packed, clothes and food will be added on Sunday. We plan to leave on Monday, but are waaiting for a pair of chairs to come in.  We have been looking for a comfortable chair, and I think we have found them. They are light weight, fold..or rather kind of roll up and fit in a bag. I wanted a headrest and comfort, Dave wanted compact. I have a lovely recliner, but David thinks its just too huge.

Our first general direction will be towards Rock Port Texas.  Boots is there and I need a visit with her. WE will probably just travel for the first few days, and then start poking around and looking for things to do and see. Our Idea is to leave the more local (1-2 days) areas for shorter trips.  Thats what we did a few months ago when we went to SC and Charlston.  WE packed a lot into those days, saw my nephew Brent, toured the BMW factory, checked out the "Firefly" vodka distillery, visited the Button King, and went through Wilson NC to see the Whirly Gigs.

We also went to the Zoo in Ashboro.

This Blog is a learning process, not sure how to add the things I want to add...

In Planning mode again....

Its almost xmas, and as soon as its over I think its time to get out on the road for a while. I'm thinking the Charleston area. We have Brent down there...and if we get lucky maybe a few contacts from him.  I am going to get the map out and look at what's around there!
Its not really that cold here yet, but by January and February it may be doing the gray cloudy and wet thing.  Charlottesville wont be that much warmer, but it will perhaps be a bit sunnier and ...it will be somewhere different.

Day One "The Great Florida Adventure "

April 9th     Heading out to Clayton GA, first stop.

Got on on the road. By 6 am. Swung by the Wa Wa for the required cup of coffee.
Nice and clear no rain just slightly cool.  Headed for Emporia.  Sun was coming up behind us, lighting up things in front of us. This is the time for picture taking. Passed the little building/house I like its getting worse and will probably just rot away. Saw some old signs " Nellie's". And some buildings it would be fun to get pictures of.

Maybe i will just make a day trip get here around sunrise, and drive around taking pics. We are going to make it to GA tonight, hopefully in time to visit with Bob and June .June has a Dr. appointment on Friday and will be getting her eyes dilated, so we will only have tonight and Friday. So we wont be stopping a lot on the way down.

Had biscuits at Bojangles, that saved us some time....and $$.   I watched for the place outside Emporia, but it seemed to have turned into a Pizza place..... Too bad David might have enjoyed the fried fish breakfast. i need to talk David into the joy of wandering...... somehow it's easier to wander off the beaten path when its just me. I hate to drag him off on roads that go nowhere.

We decided to split a brisket plate, plenty of time to eat salad once we get to FL.

Sibyl called and suggested I post on Instagram....

Back in the car listening to Roadhouse on Sirius....we had fun last year with the old songs...words and lyrics from  another era....   its been a good year for the roses, 1814
The Lanes called to see if we wanted to meet them for BBQ in Franklin, but since we had just had lunch we decided to go to their house and then go out latter.

Iced Coffee is always a good thing on a trip!
We got to Bob and Junes and visited for a while. We met there two dogs Rosie (who is battling cancer) and Oreo. They looked at our books and we talked about all our travels.  Bob talked about his years in military and his sailing adventures. Seams he was stranded and had to have gas "high" lined to  his sailboat.
June is from Panama and they have been married for around 20 years.  Their house is tucked back in the side of a mountain or maybe its just a big hill. There  is a great little creek running beside us and its quiet and is going to be cool.  They live in the downstairs because the upstairs has all her mothers and his mothers stuff up there.  Reminds me why I am purging....I don't need all the yarn and stuff...do I?

We went out for some good Mexican food at "La Pachanga"  It was good and I had my favorite Dos Eques.....We treated them since we have invaded them!  Lots of talk about school days and travel. Then we headed home and since we had been up since 5 AM  we called it a night and went to the Tardis walked the girls and called it a night.

Getting ready, that is the biggest part of what we are doing right now. Dave is working on the outside and Tardis parts, and I am trying to figure out the food, and other things. He keeps coming in with new necessities, CB radio, pump to pump out the boat, lots of little things to make the trip go more smoothly. We even bought a new kayak!
Its 3 part one..Point 65. It can be used as a single or as a double. Dave came up with a good way to attach it to the back of the Tardis. He is working really hard at trying to put things we may need more often more accessible. When you are working with limited space this gets more and more difficult.  On the outside I think he is doing well, but for the inside space it may get tricky because we each have different ideas of what needs to easy to get to.

Clothing is the next thing to tackle! I am trying to find a clear way to look at this.  What do I need to bring? Liz says layers. But I keep thinking of things I want to bring. I don't need but so much. The truth is we can probably buy anything we need while on the road. At least for the first part of the trip. I need to look up the average temperatures for the areas we are going to. That would at least make me a bit better informed.  There will be places to wash clothes, and Dave and Liz will be dressing the same way we will. I don't foresee changing clothes ever day. I wish I were better at this, but it is a new skill. And one that needs to be learned. Dave keeps saying "he's already packed"  and that scares me a bit. Lord knows what he thinks is packed. I hope he has some "good jeans" and some "unstained and shirts with no holes" I hesitate to even bring it up...oh well, he will pack what he thinks he needs.  I am leaning toward the concept of "3".  Sonja says that is the plan she uses. 1 on, 1 clean, 1 in laundry.  I may step it up to "4's"  Then you add underwear, socks and a coat/vest. Shoes I keep thinking I need this pair and that pair. Keene's and socks for day to day, tennis shoes for walking, boots for hiking, slippers for in truck, and shower shoes.....whew!

Found this great piece at rhe thrift store last week, it seems to be a good sign! I have always wanted one of his pieces, and there it was...and such a good one for our trip.
